Hirschsprung's Disease of Aganglionic Megacolon

Abstract
Hirschsprung's disease of aganglionic megacolon is an important and frequent cause of intestinal obstruction in infants. In total agangliosis coli, the entire and frequently a portion of the distal small bowel lack aganglion cells. TAC affects
more
female than males and has a higher incidence of familial rather than the usual forms of Hirschsprung's disease. The prognosis is grave with high mortality, even after early deagnosis and surgical therapy. Radiographic findings are not diagnostic.
Open
biopsy establishes the diagnosis.
